cyclosporin A in renal transplant recipients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Thirteen non-diabetic renal transplant recipients had various aspects of carbohydrate and ipid metabolism studied before and after conversion from cyclosporin A to azathioprine. No patient had a glucose tolerance test result diagnostic ofdiabetes meflitus before conversion, and there was no change in fasting glucose or immunoreactive insulin values after conversion. There was, however, a fail in the area under the curve of the glucose tolerance test values after conversion. Furthermore, fasting serum cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations fell significantly after conversion. No change in the concentration of high density lipoprotein cholesterol was detected. These findings suggest that cyclosporinA is associated with an inferior lipid profile as compared with azathioprine, which may be important in patients with transplants given the drug long term.

Histopathologic evaluation of Verrucous skin lesions in renal transplant recipients
Background: Warts are common in renal allograft recipients (RAR) with reported incidence of 24% to 100%. These patients also demonstrate an accelerated malignant transformation of warts. Although in immunocompetent patients, the histology of common warts is quite predictable, this is not so in RAR. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the histopathologic findings of warty lesion...
متن کاملConvulsions associated with cyclosporin A in renal transplant recipients.
Cyclosporin A has proved to be a valuable drug both in the prevention of graft rejection after solid organ transplantation' and in the prevention of graft versus host disease after bone marrow transplantation.2 Caine et al treated the first cadaver renal allograft recipients with cyclosporin A in 1978,3 and toxicity due to the drug was noted soon afterwards. The adverse effects in transplant re...

This study was designed to determine the frequency of malignant skin tumors in RTRs in Imam Reza Hospital, Mashhad, Iran, in 2001-2002.Method: This descriptive study was performed on 322 recipients who were examine...
متن کاملPrevalence of herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 infections in renal transplant recipients and their renal function
Background and Objectives: Viral infections are a major problem for transplant recipients. Reactivation of viruses is associated with the use of strong immunosuppressive drugs. Herpes simplex virus infections in renal transplant patients may become severe without treatment. Although the prevalence and role of herpes simplex viruses 1 and 2 in bone marrow and lung recipients are well known; howe...
متن کاملRenal effects of amino acids and dopamine in renal transplant recipients treated with or without cyclosporin A.
1. The nephrotoxic effects of cyclosporin A may diminish the ability of the transplanted kidney to increase the glomerular filtration rate and effective renal plasma flow during infusion of dopamine or amino acids. 2. The present study included 16 renal transplant recipients transplanted for more than 6 months. Eight of the patients were on immunosuppressive treatment including cyclosporin A [c...
